Before saying anything about poker psychology, what you have to understand is what the term means. Poker psychology is the art of reading the opponent’s mind while playing a game of poker.
Now what is this reading someone’s mind? This is actually being able to make a very good and close to perfect guess about your opponent’s cards. Every player has a reaction to the card he is receiving. Of course there are exceptions. But generally, a player reacts in a certain way to a certain pattern of cards.
Also look for what the other players are saying or how they are reacting on how much they are betting. Look at where their eyes go. See all the movements that are being done around. It does not matter if you don’t have a good hand. You have to read others carefully.
Generally a messy chip stack indicates that the player is loose and has come only with the intention of gambling. A neat chip stack is only seen for those players who are not around to bluff. But exceptions are always there. A very tight player may make his stack messy to have the impression that his is not a good one at the game.
Another thing needs to be mastered is not looking at your card at the first flop. Avoid looking at your card and see the first reaction of your opponent. It may disclose many things. If your opponent has a big hand, he will be nervous. Try to read this. Also keep your ears open.
When your have mastered all of these, you will automatically find new things that are very important and help you in poker psychology.
